An organized home is a free mind
DECLUTTER WITH EASE
I get it – the thought of dealing with the clutter in your home can feel overwhelming. But take a deep breath, grab yourself a hot cup of tea, and let’s take this journey together. I’ll be right here with you, every step of the way!
Once you’ve started the process with a solid system in place, it’ll start to feel second nature. You might even find yourself enjoying this new path you’re on!
When I first decided it was time to regain control of my home, I was completely overwhelmed, overstimulated, and had zero motivation. After plenty of trial and error, I’ve finally found a foolproof method that works wonders for me—and I’m excited to share it with you! Because let’s face it, a clean, organized home not only clears your mind but also creates a healthier, happier environment for you and your family. The transformation will be so incredible, you’ll never look back!
Here’s How You Can Start:
1. Pick a Room – Whether it's one room a week or one room a month, you get to set your own pace!
2. Grab Two Totes (or Boxes) and a Trash Bag
TOTE 1 = Sell/Donate
TOTE 2 = Undecided
BAG = Trash
3. Set a Timer for 1 Hour (Feel free to adjust this based on your available time.)
4. Start with the Trash – Put any trash directly into the bag before moving on to the next step.
5. Remove Items That Don’t Belong – For example, take dishes or food items to the kitchen, laundry to the laundry room, toys to the toy box, and so on.
6. Focus on One Section of the Room - If you’re unsure whether to keep something, quickly toss it in the “Undecided” tote and move on. Don’t overthink it! Decision fatigue is real, so just keep moving forward.
Ask Yourself:
“Does this item serve a purpose in my life?”
“Is this item worth the space it’s taking up?”
“Is it worth finding a spot for it?”
Let It Go If:
You haven’t used it in the last year.
It’s broken or missing parts.
It stresses you out, is an eyesore, or you wouldn’t miss it if it were gone.
If it is a duplicate item- do you really need that many?
7. Once Room #1 Is Complete:
Toss out that trash bag- No looking back and second guessing!
Empty the Sell\Donate Tote- Don’t hold on to “sell” items too long, get rid of them!
Set the “undecided” tote out of sight, out of mind. Anything in that tote that you have not missed, reached for, or thought about in one month, let it go!
8. When Bringing New Items Home- For every new item, remove 3 old items.
Ask Yourself:
“Will I use it and how often?”
“Is it worth finding a home for?”
“Can I function without this?”
We often feel guilty getting rid of things we spent money on, but keeping them around for no reason doesn’t help anyone. I’ve definitely bought things I didn’t need and regret it, but hey – we learn from those mistakes! Once you’ve gone through the decluttering process and seen how much unnecessary stuff you’re holding onto, you’ll be less likely to make those impulse purchases in the future. Don’t punish yourself by storing things you don’t need.
Remember, a clutter-free home isn’t just about having less stuff – it’s about making room for what truly matters. Letting go of things that no longer serve you is an act of self-care, and the peace you’ll feel in your space will make it all worth it. You’ve got this – and I’m here cheering you on every step of the way!
